The Broken Hearts campaign calls for an end to unjust mandatory deportation of parents of U.S. citizen children. Since 1997, over 100,000 parents of U.S. citizen children have been deported, tearing countless families apart.

Nov. 1 Tales from the Salt City Benefit

On Saturday, November 1, 2008, join the Detainment Task Force for a night at the theatre!

Our very own Rebecca Fuentes is part of the cast in the play, Tales from the Salt City. The Detainment Task Force is selling tickets for some of the best seats at the 8:00 pm show on November 1 to benefit our work and justice for immigrants and all workers.

Beginning at 6:30 pm there will also be a Dia de los Muertos themed reception. Show up early to enjoy the displays and snacks.

Big Raid in Sodus - Children, Women, and Men Terrorized

I just heard from our friend, social worker Alina Diaz, who has reported on a particularly aggressive raid of farm workers in Sodus, New York.
We are still trying to put together the facts, but this is what we know so far:

DTF Wins Human Rights Award

If you haven't yet heard the news, it is our pleasure to announce that the Detainment Task Force has been selected by the Onondaga County/Syracuse Commission on Human Rights to receive an award in the "group" category, for "those who demonstrate a contribution to the cause of human rights in our County."
